Media in both inoculation rooms and production ponds: NaHCO3, NaNO3, K2HPO4, K2SO4, NaCl, MgSO4, FeSO4, A5 micro element solution + EDTA
1. Strain inoculation is held within 250ml Erlenmeyer flasks inside a shaker-incubator using artificial light and fully controlled environment.
2. First stage stages of accelerated cultivation are held within indoors clean culture rooms with climate control and increased lighting, inside transparent food-grade Polyethylene flexible tubes.
3. Outdoors cultivation is held within special greenhouses with air filtration and natural lighting control. Inside the greenhouses are the production ponds – raceways and special bubbling ponds, all lined with HDPE liner which is NSF certified and suitable for the cultivation conditions.
4. Harvesting is preformed using a 2 phase microfiltration system comprised of a custom made rotating drum filter (patent pending) and a mechanical press. All components are made of 316 stainless steel (SS), and are fully collapsible for efficient cleaning and sanitation. During separation biomass is being washed from media residues using fresh drinking water.
5. Ready-to-eat fresh biomass is passed through a food-grade SS extruder and divided into 20g portions, being packaged inside special PET containers suitable for freezing. 20g portions are passed through a fast-freeze process in -200C and packed in an 8-pack = 160g.
Continuous QA+QC is being held by company's on-site labs and sophisticated monitoring and control web. Food safety assurance and certification is done by an outside, non-dependant laboratory certified by Israel's ministry of health, checking for heavy metal residues, pesticides, food pathogens and general facility sanitation.
